"I feel that I must write and tell you how you the Sure Step cane has greatly improved the quality of my life.
I am 57 years old and have suffered from the after effects of Polio since I was two. Luckily, during my youth I was not hindered by this disease to any great extent, but as the years have pasted, post-polio has severely limited my physical capabilities, especially walking.
My favorite leisure activity is deer hunting and I had decided that last season would be the end of that recreational activity, due to falling with a regular cane as I was crossing a cornfield. During the off season, I thought about different ways I could overcome this problem of falling while on soft or rough terrain and designed my own cane by tracing my shoe onto a 2X6 piece of wood and then cut a cane handle to attach it to. This worked to a degree, but as you can guess, there was no "movement" with the foot. It was pick-up and plop down. One evening I was on the Internet looking for canes, when I came across your web site and found the answer to my problem, your product.
Since July, my mobility has been greatly enhanced because of the Sure Step. This hunting season, I have gone across fields of all types with no problems. On the job, I can now walk on the tile that is wet without the fear of the cane slipping and causing a fall. It has given me much added self-confidence in my abilities to continue my recreational activities, as well as being able to do my job without worry of injury.
Thank you for your advancement in mobility for the physically handicapped."

"I am writing to thank you for the kindnesses you showed me in allowing me to use the Strutters over the past six weeks.
Having been in a wheelchair for four months and then traditional crutches for two months, I found the Strutters to be a refreshing alternative for those of us who understand the challenges of assisted walking and who long for a greater sense of independence.
There are many reasons to praise the genius of the Strutter design, but let me offer two from my personal experience:
On my first day of having the Strutters, an ice storm blanketed Washington. As you know, ice and snow instill great fear in those forced to walk with crutches. However, the Strutters negotiated the ice with tremendous effectiveness and stability, giving me confidence and the peace of mind to venture into the elements.
The second aspect is how well the Strutters work on wet surfaces. On one rainy day last year, I took a bad fall when my conventional crutch pads slipped on the marble floors made wet from some dripping umbrellas. The inch-and-a-half round tip acted like it was made of grease. Yet, when I walked on the same wet marble floors with the Strutters, I had no such anxiety. The Strutter's non-skid sole made a world of difference in gripping the surface.
In conclusion, the Strutter is a revolutionary alternative to conventional crutches, providing comfort, stability and peace of mind. To those tired of using ordinary crutches, I think they will find this product to be a welcome change."

"On October 2, I ruptured my Achilles tendon playing soccer. It was a typical weekend warrior injury. At my HMO, they told me it would be a long recuperation, and after they splinted my ankle, they sold me a pair of wooden crutches.
Almost a week later, on the eve of surgery to repair my tendon, I was at church participating in an ordination ceremony. The Episcopal bishop of Washington, Ronald Haines, saw me on my crutches and said, "I know a man who has invented a new kind of crutches. He lives here in Washington; call me and I'll give you his number." He went on to describe the Strutters, which he had used when he'd suffered a broken leg.
After surgery, I learned I would have another 8 weeks in a cast. I called Harry Herman, the inventor of Strutters. One of the first things he told me was that Strutters are not crutches! Crutches aren't designed to hold your whole weight, he explained, but Strutters are. We made an appointment and he fitted me with a neat blue pair. I was apprehensive at first about putting weight on my underarms. It took a day or so to get used to, and many people had warned me about nerve damage when I was using the old-fashioned crutches.
Once I got going, I was amazed at how well the Strutters worked. I easily climbed the grassy hill back to the soccer field to watch my teammates play. Going up stairs was a lot safer and easier. Getting around was a breeze, I could easily stand and do chores like cooking and washing dishes, and my hands appreciated the break from holding all of my weight.
People who saw me with the Strutters often commented on them - it was clear to them instantly how much better this design is than the crutches people are used to. I got the most comments in November, when I walked half of the Help the Homeless Walkathon, something I never would have tried without the Strutters.
I don't need the Strutters any more, but if anyone I know ever needs assistance walking, the first thing I'd recommend is calling Orthotic Mobility and getting a pair of Strutters."

"We were able to see both the adult size and the pediatric size and to allow some of our patients to try them. The patients loved them. They thought that these crutches were more comfortable than regular crutches and easy to use. They also felt safe on them from the first time they tried them. The boys thought the crutches looked 'really cool'.
Many of the children complain that standard crutches hurt under their arms and also that the tips slip when the ground is wet. We feel that having this style crutches available for our patients to use would be very beneficial."

In a letter to (former) President Bill Clinton:
"I was so sorry to recently learn of your unfortunate knee injury and wish you well in your recovery. I too had a debilitating injury last year resulting from a fractured tibia that extended into my knee socket.
I was loaned a pair of Strutters by the inventor, who lives here in Washington. You may recall that Vice President Gore used an earlier prototype model when he damaged his Achilles tendon.
I recommend the Strutters to you because there is no comparison in comfort and stability. They are quite remarkable if one must use some supporting device."
Rt. Rev. Ronald H. Haines
Bishop of Washington, D.C.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your thoughtfulness in sending me the Strutters following my recent injury.
Since that time, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of best wishes that I have received from people all over America and throughout the world, and I am particularly grateful for your generosity.
Your gift certainly will help my recovery."
Al Gore
Former Vice President of the United States
